Tolsia High School's drama department, led by Mrs. Teresa Muncy, recently had their holiday production with The Island of Misfit Toys, the Musical. They performed three showings of the musical and entertained local elementary schools, their own student body, and the community. As always, Mrs. Muncy’s students did a great job!

Congratulations to the following employees: Flora Perry, Delores Clark, Don Porter, Sean Adkins, Kimberly Queen, Deputy David McGlothin, Gary Nelson, Allison Hatfield, Jessie Ward, Diane Pierce, Stephanie Blake, Hester Scaggs, Tina M Hazlett, Tina L Hazlett. 🔵🔴 Any employee of the Wayne County School system can submit a name of a deserving colleague under the "Staff" section on our website.

The Marshall University HATS program recently visited Fort Gay PK8 for a special lesson with the 7th grade class. The HATs program teamed up with members of the Japanese community for a lesson on Japanese culture. Students learned a little bit about the countries language, geography, tea ceremony, and music! The lesson was wonderful, and the students enjoyed learning more about another culture. through the language, geography, the tea ceremony and music. I think the students that a magical time and everyone was so impressed with them. We were also very excited to find out FGPK8 was the pilot for the program on Wayne County.

East Lynn Elementary recently finished up an after-school coding camp! To host the camp, the school received a $2,000 Country Roads Codes grant through the WVDE. For three days, 15 students and their families took part in the camp where they learned how to code a computer game character. This activity allowed students to collaborate with fellow students and their families while working through various stages of the project. The grant also provided enough funding for two STEM kits and two student-friendly coding books for each student who attended the camp. Thank you to the WVDE for providing the grant money, and to all of the parents/guardians who attended the coding camp with their students!
