East Lynn Elementary recently finished up an after-school coding camp! To host the camp, the school received a $2,000 Country Roads Codes grant through the WVDE.
For three days, 15 students and their families took part in the camp where they learned how to code a computer game character. This activity allowed students to collaborate with fellow students and their families while working through various stages of the project. The grant also provided enough funding for two STEM kits and two student-friendly coding books for each student who attended the camp.
Thank you to the WVDE for providing the grant money, and to all of the parents/guardians who attended the coding camp with their students!

It does not get much more fresh than Wayne Middle School's breakfast this morning. The scrambled eggs were made using eggs from the school's Chicken Tender Club chickens. They look delicious!

While our students were away yesterday, our staff had a successful day of professional development. WCS is fortunate to have so many talented educators who are passionate about what they do.

Four years ago, Rhonda Adams, a teacher at Wayne Elementary, lost her son Colt. At the time of his passing, Colt was a student at Wayne High School where he was known for always helping others.
To honor her son’s memory and his love of giving back, Rhonda established a program called Colt’s Season of Giving. The purpose of this mission is to raise money to assist the homeless in the Wayne County area.
This year, the WES Leadership Team asked students and staff to donate $1 to help raise money for the 2024 Colt’s Season of Giving…and the WES community delivered, raising $400.
The school’s 5th grade Leadership Team, along with Ms. Adams and Mrs. Criswell, recently went to Wal-Mart to purchase items to distribute to people in need. Thank you, Ms. Adams for continuing Colt’s memory with this mission, and thank you to all who donated to make this year’s Colt’s Season of Giving a successful one.

Students at Genoa have been earning Economy Dollars this year. They earn the money for various reasons like good grades or lending a helping hand. Students have been saving up their Economy Dollars all year and recently had the chance to spend big at the GES Bookstore. Thank you to Mrs. McBride and Ms. Queen for organizing this event! Also, thank you to Mrs. Lana from the Wayne Library for her assistance!
