👏The VMS volleyball team, and their parents and coaches, took some time on Friday to give their school some TLC. The group cleaned up and put down a fresh coat of paint in and around the gym area! 🙌
They had a great time and the end result looks awesome! Way to go, Tigers! 🐅 🏐
Huge shoutout to our Volleyball girls, coaches and parents for the new paint and cleaning job they worked on Friday! The girls had a fantastic time and we appreciate all the effort from our Tiger Crew!

We are beyond grateful for the time, care, sacrifices, and dedication of our employees. They are the foundation of everything we do! Happy Labor Day!

Today Crum PK-8 held a celebration to reward students who earned Green or Blue on the state assessment last year. A slip-n-slide and inflatable axe throwing station were brought in for the kids to enjoy and cool down in the dog days of summer. Way to go Mounties!

Way to go, PES!!

🇺🇸 American Legion 93 of Kenova talked about the American Flag with 4th and 5th grade students at Dunlow Elementary. Students learned the history and traditions of our countries flag.
The students were eager to learn and asked great questions throughout the lesson. At the end, the students were presented with an American Flag that has flown over the United States Capitol! Thank you for stopping by, Post 93!

🤝 Kicking off the year with team-building activities!
These creative 4th graders at Kellogg learned the power of teamwork and collaboration by completing challenges together and squaring off in a rock, paper, scissors competition. It was a joy to watch them learn new things about themselves and their classmates!

Fred the (gummy) worm was in need of help last week and third graders at East Lynn stepped in to help. In small groups, students used paper clips to put a life preserver on fred. Next they designed and built a safety device to help Fred land safely on the ground.

It's happening, it is finally happening! Welcome back students, we've missed you! Make this year, your year.

We've had this date circled for awhile! Enjoy the final day of summer break, and we will see you in the morning!

🏛️ Those pillars highlight the importance of the WVDE’s annual INVEST Conference. This year, 700 plus educators from around the state gathered in one place to learn and grow from one another. 62 WCS educators attended the 2024 conference. They spent the week attending sessions for elementary teachers, secondary ELA, Math, Science, CTE, Social Studies, and many more.
📚 WCS was also proud to be one of seven counties recognized by the WVDE as a “Bright Spot” for our Science of Reading implementation. That recognition highlights the terrific partnership with our SOR Implementation Team and Classroom Teachers. 📖
🍎 Our team left the conference refreshed and looking forward to applying new concepts and methods in the classroom. 👏

The journey of learning is one that never ends, every day is a good day to learn something new. In their never-ending pursuit of knowledge, more than 110 Wayne County Schools ELA and Math Teachers are at the 2024 WCS Summer Academy.
Through our partnership with Carnegie Learning, teachers are taking on the role of students this week to sharpen their skills, learn new strategies, and grow as educators.
🍎 The sessions are focusing on:
English and Language Arts (ELA) 👇
📓 Early reading concepts aligned with the Science of Reading
📖 Literary Nonfiction
