A Message from Superintendent Gary L. Adkins
I am extremely pleased to be the Wayne County Board of Education Superintendent of Schools. I could not be more proud of the Wayne County School System because of the dedication and tireless effort of the employees, board members, volunteers, parents, and citizens. It is obvious that everyone involved with Wayne County Schools cares about the same thing. We care about the children of Wayne County. Everyone involved has committed time and effort to continually improve our system and ensure that a quality education is offered to all students.
As Superintendent, I am very proud of all twenty-one schools in Wayne County. At the present time, eight are West Virginia Schools of Excellence, seven are West Virginia Department of Education Exemplary Schools, four are West Virginia Title I Distinguished Schools, and one is a No Child Left Behind Blue Ribbon School. In addition, eighteen of twenty-one Wayne County schools were recently part of the 2004-2005 West Virginia Achieves School Recognition Program.
With all the wonderful things happening in Wayne County Schools, I must also mention that we have many challenges ahead of us. With the "No Child Left Behind" act, we must continue to improve working together and uphold the ever lasting goal of Wayne County Schools. That goal is, and has been for many years, for every child to reach their full potential.
